Italfestmtl
For over 30 years, ItalfestMTL has been proud to honour the beauty and richness of Italy in its beloved metropolis.
It is in a jovial atmosphere that all the festival goers gather for the time of the festivities in August. The festival offers today a variety of activities and events completely free and in various districts of Montreal.
We look forward to seeing you among us to discover the Dolce Vita!

Our history
ItalfestMTL, was launched in 1993 in the Montreal North district with the intention of promoting Italian creativity, culture and heritage. The first edition of the festival held in August 1993 attracted an audience of 30,000 people over a 3-day period. Due to its strong growth and popularity, in 1998, the organizing committee decided to move the event to the Old Port of Montreal, Dorchester Square and Delorme Park in Saint-Léonard. Then, in 2003, with over 250,000 participants, the event experienced unprecedented growth and has continued to grow every year. In 2004, the Board of Directors decided that the ideal location to present Montreal’s Italian Week (now ItalfestMTL) was Little Italy. As a result, other boroughs were added over the years, such as LaSalle, Notre-Dame-De Grâce, Laval, Quartier des Spectacles and others.
Today, the festival, which is in its 30th edition, offers a variety of and has nearly 500,000 visitors per edition
ItalfestMTL is an event organized by the National Congress of Italian-Canadians (Quebec Region), a non-profit, non-political organization founded in 1972 whose main mission is to promote Italian culture and multi-ethnic relations in the region. Today, the Italian community is one of the most important communities in Quebec and contributes significantly to its social and economic development. For this reason, the Congress has decided to offer to the citizens and tourists of Montreal the ItalfestMTL festival.
