Marino performs regularly at Place des Arts in Montreal, and recently, at the iconic Birdland Jazz Club in New York alongside legendary pianist Billy Stritch, accompanist to the late Tony Bennett and Liza Minnelli’s long time musical director. He also just completed his West Coast US debut tour starting in San Francisco, and is excited to be working on his first album, soon to be announced. Aside from performing, Marino is a proud advocate for mental health causes, and through concerts, has helped raise $50,000 for the Jewish General Hospital in Montreal. David will be accompanied by John Gilbert and is very excited to be part of ItalfestMTL this summer.
Testimonials:
BroadwayWorld : ” If Artificial Intelligence — or a scientist isolating DNA strands that determine voice quality and style — could create a singing voice with the best qualities of Mel Tormé, Bobby Darin and Vic Damone, you’d have a synthesis resembling the delightful and dashing David Marino. But I don’t think his prodigious charm and smile could be bottled. If they were, the label on the bottle would proclaim ‘Contains No Artificial Ingredients!’”
Jane Monheit, Grammy-nominated Jazz vocalist: “ Truly one of the most gorgeous voices I’ve ever heard. Please go see him. “
Theater Pizzazz: “ David can swing and scat like Mel Tormé. His softer passages, in head voice, are like a young Sinatra’s, with a nearly angelic air to them. He can even sing arias well enough to perform at the Met.”
The Montreal Gazette: “ This young man has an incredible ease on stage and a velvet voice, and is way beyond his years. David has the potential to conquer the world of jazz.”
Legendary cabaret singer Marilyn Maye: “One word: Phenomenal!”
